I am a word person. I love language and "word of the day" calendars and I won my 3rd grade spelling bee, beating out the smartest kid in school by spelling twelfth correctly (he kept using a V.... duhhhhhh). But how do you use words to sum up your life? To try to explain who you are, how you got somewhere, where you want to go- I feel like you need more than words. If you could look at a scrapbook of my life, you'd see me and my sister on our bikes on the front driveway. You'd see my mom and I on the shores of Lake Champlain, skipping rocks and dipping our feet in the water. You'd see my Dad coaching our basketball and softball teams, running out on the field and scooping me up the ONE TIME I made a catch in the back outfield where he stuck me (for good reason). You'd see me and Alison getting ready for the prom, her complaining about her hair and me complaining about my date wearing a white tux. You'd see me singing into a bottle in Nashville, holding Emma the day she was born, dancing with my grandfather at my stepsister's wedding. I feel like these pictures would explain more about me than I ever could, and I'm grateful that someone was around to take them. And now, as an aspiring photographer, I am grateful to return the favor, and capture moments that will make it into someone else's scrapbook one day.
